Former Union minister and BJP leader Vijay Goel led a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on the 81st anniversary of the Quit India Movement, comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “modern-day Mahatma Gandhi.” The Yatra, organized by Goel, who also serves as the vice chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, commenced from Rajghat and culminated at Charti Lal Goel Heritage Park near Red Fort. During this event, participants rallied for India’s liberation from corruption, poverty, filth, and casteism.
The Quit India Movement, launched on August 9, 1942, by Mahatma Gandhi against British colonial rule, remains a significant milestone in India’s struggle for independence. Addressing the Tiranga Yatra attendees, Goel emphasized the parallels between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mahatma Gandhi. He highlighted how Modi’s leadership mirrors Gandhi’s principles, as the country endeavors to combat issues like poverty and corruption.
In a statement from Goel’s office, it was conveyed that Goel likened Modi’s leadership to that of Mahatma Gandhi, asserting that the current administration under Modi’s guidance is dedicated to resolving challenges aligned with Gandhi’s ideals. Moreover, Goel indicated that the nation, under Modi’s direction, is embracing a collective aspiration for freedom from corruption, nepotism, and dynastic politics.
Prime Minister Modi, Goel further explained, urges the youth to comprehend Mahatma Gandhi’s pivotal role in India’s fight for freedom and to integrate his teachings into the process of nation-building. The Tiranga Yatra, according to Goel, is in harmony with Modi’s vision for an all-encompassing and prosperous India, which also aligns with his commitment to eradicating societal maladies.
Goel’s portrayal of Modi as a “modern-day Mahatma Gandhi” underscores the efforts being undertaken to steer the nation toward a brighter future. The Yatra symbolizes the synergy between this vision and the drive to rid the country of various ills, fostering a united India that honors its historical legacy while working toward a more inclusive and progressive society.
