सोमवार को विश्व हिंदू परिषद और बजरंग दल के कार्यकर्ता मेवात के नूह में भगवा यात्रा निकाल रहे थे। इसी दौरान यात्रा पर जिहादियों ने पथराव शुरू कर दिया। फिर आगे वही हुआ जो अमूमन होता है। जिहादियों ने हिन्दू मंदिरों में आग लगाई। घर-दुकाने जलाईं। तोड़-फोड़ की। सरकारी संपत्ति का नुकसान किया।
सरकार को वहां धारा 144 लागू करनी पड़ी और अर्ध सैनिक बलो की 30 टुकड़िया भेजनी पड़ी।
मेवात के मुसलमान आज़ादी के पहले से अपनी जिहादी गतिविधियों के लिए कुख्यात हैं। आज भी वे अपनी आजीविका अपराध करके चलाते हैं। बंटवारे के समय ये सभी पाकिस्तान जा रहे थे। लेकिन गांधी ने उन्हें नहीं जाने दिया।
19 दिसंबर 1947 को गाँधी झरसा गांव गये वहां उन्होंने एक सभा की और सभी मेव मुसलमानों से भारत में ही रुकने की विनंती की। गांधीजी ने भाषण में कहा कि “मुझसे ये कहा गया है कि मेव करीब-करीब ‘जरायम पेशा जाति (*अपराध करके आजीविका चलाने वाली जाति)’ की तरह हैं। अगर ये बात सही है तो आप लोगों को अपने आपको सुधारने की कोशिश करना चाहिए। मुझे उम्मीद है कि आप मेरी इस सलाह पर नाराज़ नहीं होंगे। केंद्र सरकार से मैं ये कहूंगा कि अगर मेवों पर ये आरोप (अपराधी होने के) सही हैं तो भी इस दलील के आधार पर उन्हें निकालकर पाकिस्तान नहीं भेजा जा सकता। मेव लोग भारत की प्रजा हैं इसलिये सरकार ये का ये कर्तव्य है कि वो मेवों को शिक्षा की सुविधा देकर, उन्हें बसाने के लिये बस्तियां बनाकर अपने आपको सुधारने में मदद करे।”
गांधीजी के विनम्र आग्रह और सरकार पर बने दवाब की वजह से मेव मुसलमान पाकिस्तान नहीं गये। फिर उसी शाम को गांधी ने दिल्ली के बिड़ला भवन में प्रार्थना सभा कहा कि “ऐसा कहने से तो काम नहीं चलेगा कि मेव गुनाह करने वाली कौम है। गुनाह करने वाला कौन है और कौन नहीं। ये कौन जानता है? क्या जो लोग गुनाह करते हैं क्या उनको आप भारत से बाहर निकाल देंगे? यहां से निकाल देंगे या मार डालेंगे? तुम यहां से चले जाओ, ये कहने से तो काम नहीं हो सकता। इनको (मेव मुसलमानों) तो सुधारना चाहिए और अच्छी शिक्षा देना चाहिए। जो शराफत का रास्ता है वो इनको बताना चाहिए।”
आज भारत सरकार ने शिक्षा, रोजगार, विकास, इंफ्ररास्ट्राकचर सब कुछ मेवों को दे दिया लेकिन उन्होंने सभी का इस्तेमाल अपराध करने के लिए ही किया। मेव पाकिस्तान तो नहीं गए लेकिन अब वे हिन्दुओं के मेवात से भगा रहे हैं।
On Monday, Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists were conducting a saffron rally in Nuh, Meo. During the procession, Jihadists began pelting stones, leading to the usual chain of events. The Jihadists set fire to Hindu temples, houses, and shops, causing extensive damage to government property. The situation became so tense that the government had to impose Section 144 and deploy 30 platoons of paramilitary forces.
The Meo Muslims of Nuh have been notorious for their previous involvement in Jihadist activities, continuing their unlawful means of livelihood. During partition, they were also planning to move to Pakistan, but Gandhi persuaded them to stay in India. On 19th December 1947, Gandhi visited Jharsa village and urged all Meo Muslims to reform themselves and improve their ways. He believed that the government should support them in this endeavor by providing education and settlement assistance.
Gandhiji’s humble plea and pressure on the government prevented Meo Muslims from migrating to Pakistan. Later that evening at Birla House in Delhi, Gandhi further emphasized that merely saying Meo Muslims commit crimes wouldn’t solve the problem. He advocated for their reformation through education and guiding them on the path of righteousness.
Today, the Indian government has provided education, employment, development, and infrastructure to the Meo Muslims. However, they have misused all these opportunities to continue their criminal activities. While they didn’t migrate to Pakistan, they are now fleeing from Hindu-dominated Meo regions due to their own actions.
